$100 gift card contest -- Choc-o-Lantern Chocolate Frosted Chocolate Fudge flavored Pop-Tarts *contest closed*

This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Pop-Tarts.

We always enjoy the opportunity to get creative with Pop-Tarts. Have you been shopping for these little delicacies lately? There are seriously so many flavors. I swear, just a few years ago, you could get strawberry, cherry, brown cinnamon sugar, and maybe blueberry, but since then, wow! All kinds of fun fruits and desserty flavors, chocolate and peanut butter and cookies and cream... (Is it still considered a breakfast food? I submit that yes, yes it is!)

We were able to have some fun with the new Choc-o-Lantern Chocolate Frosted Chocolate Fudge flavored Pop-Tarts. These are chocolate pastries with fudgy insides, frosted orange with small sprinkles of Halloween shapes on top. How fun is that?

We decided to make our very own pumpkin patch. Here are some pictures from our afternoon in the kitchen.

First, we cut out our Pop-Tarts into pumpkin shapes. We used a pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter as a guide. Cameron very carefully cut out and sculpted the shape of the pumpkin, trimming when needed.

Then we made some chocolate frosting and piped it onto the pumpkins, making fun jack-o-lantern faces.

Then we made a home-made moist chocolate cake, frosted it, and put the jack-o-lanterns on top to make our pumpkin patch.

I'm giving away a $100 Visa gift card from Blogger! From the dates of Oct 18, 2010 to Oct 31, 2010 enter by commenting on this post and tell me: what is your favorite Pop-Tarts flavor? While you're at it, I'd love if you'd share your favorite unorthodox use of Pop-Tarts. Do you freeze them? Use them as pie crust? Make ice cream sandwiches out of them or dip them in chocolate? I'm always amazed at the recipes made out of these very versatile snacks.

I'm classic old school: strawberry, plain. I had a friend who used to butter hers...

I agree with Lindsey- I like strawberry just toasted, but my kids love brown sugar cinnamon and we haven't experimented with them yet.

The smores pop-tart is delicious...warm it up little so the marshmallow and chocolate get all melty.

Just now I wondered if the yummy raspberry PopTarts would make good cakeball type treats. I think it is worth a try to find out.

In case you couldn't tell, Raspberry is my favorite. I love the chocolate filled, chocolate topped chocolate ones, too!

When I used to eat them I like the plain Strawberry ones. My kids and husband prefer the brown sugar cinnamon ones. I've never thought to do anything innovative with them. Now you've got me thinking away!

heather gregson said...

I sometimes buy my kids the low-fat cinnamon ones, they love them because it is a special treat!!

laurie said...

what a cute pumpkin patch! i like the good old-fashion frosted strawberry. this past summer my nephews enjoyed the brown sugar cinnamon and the orange cream flavors.

My favorite flavor is the chocolate chip cookie dough ones. The kids is the brown sugar ones.

AS much as I'd like to say it's some unusual flavor that's not very popular, I have to be honest!I LOVE brown sugar cinnamon ones too! It reminds of when I was alittle girl and my grandmother would allow me to put as much sugar and cinnamon on my toast as I wanted! So I toast them now and let the butter just RUN off of them! I have also been known to eat them cold right out of the package. Yum!

My favorite is cinnamon and brown sugar, toasted, and I cannot imagine anything you could add to them to make them better... except drinking a glass of cold milk along with it.

But the Pop Tarts we usually have in the house are the chocolate fudge flavor. They are my son's favorite, and he lovvvves them un-toasted, with chocolate milk to drink.

Ellie said...

This is an easy question! My absolute favorite is unfrosted cinnamon and brown sugar.

Heather said...

Weelll, I'm not that big on pop tarts but my kids love the strawberry flavor! We have tried other flavors such as cookies and cream, but they weren't too hot about them! Collin likes to eat all of the edges first and then the middle part and when I asked him why he does this he said, "Mom, you have to eat the edges first so you can get to the red stuff in the middle, you know...duh!" Yes, you gotta love the lovely comments from my oldest son!!

Heather said...

We love the strawberry flavor! Pretty boring, but that's the one my kids love! I just made a comment but forgot to put my email address on it!!

Mamawj's Moment Away said...

my what is your favorite Pop-Tarts flavor is strawberry but I am a choc o holic and have not tryed this new flavor yet so that could change lol. Well, I like using pop tarts in a soft serve ice cream blizzard, you just make them as you would making a blizzard with any type candy you crush but instead just crush they pop tart and add it in instead, its really good.

What great ideas!! I've never thought about doing anything else with PopTarts. We're lovers of blueberry and cherry - but chocolate is always good too!!

Here's crossing my fingers - while I'm out on unpaid maternity leave, Poptarts are sure to be a favorite for breakfast in my house - save money, save time - haha! :)

Chocolate Fudge (I eat those cold, right out of the box) and Cherry. My husband always puts butter on his Pop-Tarts...it sounds weird but it tastes great on a warm Pop-Tart.

I love strawberry Pop-Tarts toasted (well-done, so it's a little bit crispy). Probably each member of my family would choose a different flavor as their favorite (although we love all of them)!
I've got to admit, I enjoy eating Pop-Tarts just as they are...it never occurred to me to use them in/for anything else.
